Lead
The Workshop is where Campfire Park thinks out loud about how it is built, governed, and sustained.
These notes sit outside the campfire circle. They are not scripture, not canon, and not a required reading path. They are working notesâdiagnostic, reflective, technical at timesâkept in public so the structure stays visible, revisable, and honest.

Why this exists
Good work can fail without ever being âwrong.â
Go Hydrology and Bobby Angel each had their own way of giving voice to placeâone through the water cycle, one through song. Both mattered. Both were loved. And yet neither could be held by the institutions around them in a lasting way.
The Workshop exists because that kind of failure is not philosophical. Itâs structural.

How to read the Workshop
There are two ways in:
- Pathways (curated themes): start here if you want the âshapeâ of whatâs being built.
- Recent Notes (chronological): start here if you want the current edge of thinking and tinkering.
Nothing here promises closure. Some notes will be revised. Some will be deprecated. A few will be wrong on purposeâbecause a real build requires testing, not certainty.
Pathways
Pick a thread:
Why Campfire Park Needed New Structure
Notes on voice, governance, and why mission-aligned work often fails to be held.
Designing for Memory Instead of Engagement
Notes on archives, letters, slow correspondence, and resisting the feed.
Architecture vs Structure
Notes distinguishing tools from the values theyâre meant to serve: information models, navigational logic, and durable systems.
Lessons in Podcasting and Voice Systems
Notes on audio workflows, publishing, metadata, and the craft of voice as infrastructure.
Scale, Counties, and Civic Form
Notes on patches, paths, and why civic conversation becomes possible only when place is legible.
Failure Modes
Postmortems, edge cases, and what breaks when you build a living system.
Recent Workshop Notes
A small list of the most recent notes appears below. If you only read one, read the one that looks like a problem youâve had yourself.
Exit clause
Nothing here requires agreement, and nothing here demands allegiance.
The Workshop exists so the scaffolding can be seenâand revisedâwithout dragging the entire park into explanation.
If youâd rather stay in the firelight: return to the Scrolls.
If youâre here because you build things: welcome.
